The visit to the church also included some heckling towards the outspoken real estate mogul.

The reverend had said in a statement distributed to reporters that the visit “in no way” represented an endorsement of Trump’s candidacy.

Flint, a financially struggling city of 100,000 people, switched from Detroits water system to the Flint River to save money in 2014.

“Hillary failed on the economy”.

Donald Trump’s foreign-born wife, Melania, has released a letter from an immigration attorney rejecting reports that she had worked illegally as a model in the United States in 1995. She said in a statement Tuesday evening that Trump has never reached out to her about the Flint water crisis and that the city workers didn’t need the distraction of a last-minute visit.

Clinton stood in for his wife, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who was resting after begin diagnosed with pneumonia last week.

“It used to be cars were made in Flint and you couldn’t drink the water in Mexico. That’s good. And I’m going to go back onto Flint”.

Trump’s visit, his second to MI in the last two weeks, is aimed at reaching out to communities with large populations of African-American voters. His visit to Flint came less than two weeks after he attended a church service at a predominantly African-American church in Detroit, where about 200 protesters gathered outside. “Flint’s pain is a result of so many different failures”.

This is the same protest group that successfully interrupted Trump’s August economic speech in Detroit, interrupting him 14 times during remarks to the Detroit Economic Club. He has argued that Democratic policies have left inner cities impoverished and unsafe and has taken to asking voters of color “What have you got to lose?” in voting for him.

Trump’s stop in Timmons’ church was part of his first visit to Flint, where a water crisis led to toxic water supply in the city. In addition to the city’s water crisis, Trump touched on the impact that the outsourcing of the automobile industry has taken on Flint.

Trump launched into an attack on Hillary Clinton at the Bethel United Methodist, only to have the pastor interrupt him to tell him he was not invited to give a political speech. A thing like that shouldn’t happen, but again I don’t want to comment on that. People can get sick if they inhale mist or vapor from contaminated water, but the bacteria don’t spread from person to person.
