The first event affected by the ACC’s decision will be the women’s soccer championship on November 4 in Cary, N.C.
2017 D-I women’s golf regional Greenville, N.C. “Sadly, the NCAA, a multi-billion dollar, tax-exempt monopoly, failed to show this respect at the expense of our student athletes and hard-working men and women”.
Other sports that will have new championship sites this year include women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, women’s basketball, baseball, and men’s and women’s golf and tennis. When asked on Tuesday if he hoped the ACC would follow the NCAA’s lead, he told Bloomberg Markets that he “hoped that they would”. “I think it is time we give serious consideration to modifying, or possibly repealing”, the law, Gunn said in a statement. “It’s on everybody’s radar, obviously”. The three major sports bodies are pulling the events as part of a sweeping boycott of the state’s controversial anti-LGBT law, HB2.

A group of representatives from NCAA schools will continue to evaluate bids to determine which locations can host future events.
Columbia’s Colonial Life Arena (18,000 seats) could be a possibility for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, as could Greenville’s Bon Secours Wellness Arena (15,591 seats).
Swofford said the presidents’ choice was made on principle.
State Democratic Party Executive Director Kimberly Reynolds also said the ACC’s decision could have been easily avoided with a repeal.
According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, there is already a favorite emerging to serve as host for the ACC football championship and that is Orlando, Florida. That game is set for November 13. NY is one of several states to ban travel for its public employees to North Carolina that is non-essential and publicly funded.
Cartland said she has reached out to the Charleston Battery to see if there is interest in hosting the lacrosse championship.
But the women’s basketball tournament, sadly, offers little in the way of financial benefit to potential hosts.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association decided Monday to move seven scheduled championships out of the state for the exact same reason. College of Charleston will host the Gildan Charleston Classic basketball tournament November 17-20 at TD Arena. In February 2014, the conference announced a deal to keep the football championship game in Charlotte through 2019.
