As part of a continuing effort to paint over his legacy as a war criminal and the worst U.S. president ever, George W. Bush will soon publish an art book, called Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors. All of the proceeds will go to his charity, the George W. Bush Presidential Center, which aims to help veterans make successful transitions to civilian life.
According to the publisher, the book, due out February 28, will also include an introduction penned by Bush and two forewords by former first lady Laura Bush and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Peter Pace. “It is President Bush’s hope that these stories of courage and resilience will honor our men and women in uniform, highlight their family and caregivers who bear the burden of their sacrifice, and help Americans understand how we can support our transitioning veterans and empower them to succeed”, the announcement stated.
‘The greatest honor of the presidency was looking them in the eye and saluting them as their Commander in Chief.
Bush also personally wrote stories of each of the subjects of his paintings – “some of them inspiring, some of them heartbreaking”, Crown said in a statement. Crown will publish two versions of the book: a $35 dollar hardcover and a $250 deluxe edition signed by the former President.
Bush’s previous books include the best-sellers “Decision Points” and ’41, ‘ about his father, former President George H.W. Bush.
Bush appeared at a job summit for returning soldiers in southern Colorado Wednesday morning. The center’s Military Service Initiative supports veterans from the September 11, 2001 attacks and after to return to civilian life and help with “overcoming the invisible wounds of war”, according to the announcement.
