“I’ve never seen anything like that before”, Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery said Wednesday. None of the officers have been identified by name. They are both expected to recover.
Fox 10 News in Phoenix reports the incident occurred early Tuesday morning outside a Quik Trip gas station in the Valley.
The three Phoenix officers had been at that location for an unrelated call.
In Phoenix, Arizona at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday morning, a driver, Marc LaQuon Payne, 44, deliberately slammed his auto into two policemen outside a QuikTrip gas station.
Authorities say the auto Payne was driving struck a police vehicle and then crashed into the store.
“I’m very proud of the men and women of the Phoenix Police Department, and I’m outraged by this incident”, Yahner said.
The driver reportedly sat in the parking lot for several minutes before barreling toward the officers. He reversed and backed into a parking spot.
Footage showed Payne stopping at a gas pump, then putting his vehicle in reverse and parking it on the west side of the parking lot. According to the records, Payne had a warrant out at the time of the stop and when officers tried to arrest him, he fought back.
After breaking one officer’s leg and sending another one flying through the air, the suspect got out of his auto and fought with police.
But it didn’t end there. The police impounded the suspect’s vehicle.
All three cops survived the shocking incident – which authorities believe was “intentional” – but as this chilling video shows, it was a close-run thing.

The rookie officer, reeling from a head injury after the careening vehicle sent him flying through the air, managed to deploy a stun gun to disable the man, Fox 10 reported. “One taser deployment was successful and the defendant fell to the ground where he was taken into custody”. The rookie officer remained hospitalized Wednesday for treatment of a concussion. His right ankle was significantly injured. A third police officer scrambled and got out of the way, but he was injured in a scuffle with the driver of the vehicle.
