According to report from In Touch Weekly, released Wednesday, legal documents show Jim Bob, 51, and Michelle, 47, are caring for the son of Michelle’s 23-year-old troubled niece, Rachel Nicole Hutchins, with the rumored intention to legally adopt him. However, in November they’re due back in court in hopes of making the guardianship permanent.

“There’s a strong hope that once that happens, they will be able to adopt him”, an insider tells In Touch. She originally gave up custody of her son a year ago to her mom, Michelle’s sister Carolyn, but in July, Carolyn had a stroke, so the Duggars volunteered to take him in.
In Touch magazine reports that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar were granted temporary guardianship of an 8-year-old boy.
‘They didn’t have to think long about coming to the boy’s rescue.
It must be mentioned here that the Duggar family might face some trouble in the adoption process, for their son, Josh Duggar’s scandal. In April, Hutchins was reportedly arrested and charged with breaking and entering a tow truck business in Springdale, Ark.
‘She’s a good person, but she’s made some bad decisions, ‘ said an insider. “She gave up custody of her son [in August 2015] to her mother, Michelle’s sister Carolyn”.
Michelle has also frequently talked about her desire to have another child, after she endured the heartache of giving birth to stillborn daughter in December 2011.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar will be welcoming another family member soon. In May, it was revealed that as a teenager, Josh had molested minors, which included his own sisters.
