To solve this issue, Belkin has announced an adapter that will let you use lightning based headphones and charge the phone at the same time.

The removal of the 3.5mm audio jack on the new iPhones is still sinking in, but this has opened the gateway to accessory makers and alike.

One of Apple’s reasons for getting rid of the headphone jack as far as their smartphones’ actual frames is concerned is because they viewed it as ancient technology, 9-to-5 Mac notes. The only caveat you’ll face with this dock is that you won’t be able to charge and listen to music at the same time if you’re using Apple’s new lightning EarPods, as there is no additional lightning connector for the headphones in the dock. You don’t have a Lightning-cable pair of headphones yet?

A more mobile-friendly solution, perhaps for the vehicle or sitting around at home, comes from Belkin with its Lightning Audio + Charge Rockstar dongle. Enter the “Lightning Dock”, which costs between $39 and $49. Apple said: “These initial sales will be governed by supply, not demand, and we have decided that it is no longer a representative metric for our investors and customers”.

As with every question asked about the single-port USB Type-C MacBook, the answer is, of course, buy an adapter.

Perhaps most concerning, however, is the prospect of spending even more on another Apple product.
