Ambani made Reliance Jio’s big announcements of free voice calls and cheap data service last week at the company’s annual general meeting in Mumbai.

“Jio’s tariff plans may gradually push the market toward “data-only plans”, under which customers are charged only for data, not for voice and text messages”.
Subscribers, in fact, are being offered free data, voice calls and messages on a 4G network till Dec 31, after which they will be able to choose from almost a dozen tariff plans.
Most likely, Reliance Jio will extend the current offer since it is hard to fetch 100 million customers in the shortest period of time.
Reliance Jio has signed deals with broadcasters such as Star India, Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEE), Sony Pictures Networks India, Network18, Eros International, Shemaroo, Balaji Telefilms, Venus and Rajshri Productions, to gcontent on its platform.
Jio has intimated the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and the security agencies regarding the commencement of its wireless telecommunication services in all 22 service areas from 5 September 2016. “The 149 plan would be key to attracting a majority of the new subscribers due free voice calls and then migrate these towards data”.

InFocus, the U.S-based tech giant has partnered with Reliance Jio for access to its complementary Jio Preview offer. It is being reported that many consumers failed to receive SIM cards as they went out of stock at some select stores. Volte will allow you to make voice calls, if you don’t have this you might not be able to avail this facility.
Reliance is also offering a Jio apps bouquet worth Rs 15,000, complimentary to all active Jio customers up to December 31, 2017. Airtel and Vodafone networks will work on any handset. The typically aggressive entry of Reliance into a sector lorded over by the likes of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and the public sector behemoth BSNL is no overnight development.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Nitin Soni of Fitch Ratings said the revenue growth of telecom companies is likely to be flat.
