Clinton losing ground to Sanders

“That socialist question” has taken on a new form these days, revolving around the only self-described socialist in the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination: Bernie Sanders.

Similarly, 50 percent of Democrats and Independents who lean Democrat believe Clinton can best handle race relations, compared with only 26 percent for Sanders. Biden is considering whether to enter the Democratic race.

“They don’t have energy here whatsoever”, said the supporter, who requested anonymity to candidly discuss Clinton’s campaign effort in the state. The political neophyte has dominated media coverage since he launched his campaign in June, steadily narrowing the gap against Clinton, according to a CNN/ORC poll which has tracked such match-ups for months. “We’re going to get more voices out there”, he said, calling the attacks on Clinton partisan. Vice President Biden was included in the poll, and was a distant third with 13%. In 2008, arrogant Clinton campaign leaders tried to pull the same thing on then-U.S. Sen. Didn’t exactly work out that way.

Hodges acknowledged that Clinton must balance her establishment relationships with an appeal to disaffected voters.

The CNN/ORC polls comes on the heels of recent polls showing him leading nationally, in Iowa and in New Hampshire, the first two nominating states over the 17 Republicans, including Louisiana’s Indian-American governor Bobby Jindal languishing at the bottom. But that strategy would be doomed to fail and won’t happen. The vice president has reportedly been meeting with advisers and mulling another presidential run, which Silver and other pundits have predicted could actually change the course of Clinton’s candidacy.

“If you’re hot when it’s hot, you’ll be cold when it’s cold”, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee said. He still has loyal friends there, including Gov. Maggie Hassan.

Still, most Democrats say they do want Biden to make a go of it: 53 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters say they think Biden should run, 45 percent that he should stay out.

Among likely Democratic voters, 74% think Clinton is likely to be their party’s nominee, but that’s down from 87% in the previous survey and 93% earlier in July. Biden has received strong public sympathy following the death from cancer of his son Beau.
