NY opens investigation into Trump charity

“We’re dealing with an attorney general who everyone in NY knows is a total lightweight”, Donald Trump said of Eric Schneiderman following the Trump University lawsuit filing.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has opened a general inquiry into the Trump Foundation to address whether or not the Foundation has made accurate disclosures and whether or not it has followed state law.

You’ve probably heard Trump talk about the Clinton Foundation, but you might not have heard that while he attacks one of America’s top charities, his foundation has been fined for an illegal donation”, the narrator says in the new 30-second ad spot, titled “Trump’s Foundation: “Corrupt Politics”. Maybe Trump is right: Schneiderman is a Democrat who is pursuing a partisan witch hunt.

A source familiar with Schneiderman’s actions said the NY attorney general’s office is conducting “an inquiry into the Trump Foundation about troubling transactions that we’ve seen”.

Schneiderman’s office has been corresponding with the foundation about concerns since June. “I didn’t make a big deal out of it or hold a press conference”, Schneiderman said.

NY attorney general Eric Schneiderman said he has opened an inquiry into the Donald J Trump Foundation to ensure the Republican presidential nominee’s charity was complying with state laws governing non-profits.

Schneiderman focusing on $25k donation in 2013 from Trump Foundation to Florida’s Republican Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The House members wrote that the 2013 payment may have influenced Bondi’s decision not to have Florida participate in a lawsuit filed by several USA states against the now-defunct Trump University. The incorrect gift had been listed on the Trump Foundation’s tax filings in a way that served to hide a real gift – the improper donation to Bondi’s group – from the IRS.

Sixteen ouse Judiciary Committee Democrats wrote U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch Tuesday seeking an investigation of whether the donation violated bribery laws.

The state of NY has opened an investigation into the family foundation of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump after published reports claimed that he has not donated any money to the charity since 2008 and once used the foundation’s money to buy a life-sized portrait of himself. But she has aligned herself politically with a man who has openly boasted about what kind of influence his money can buy.

“He sent Florida AG Pam Bondi thousands from his foundation just as she was considering an investigation into his sham university”.

Relations were apparently better in 2010, as NBC has reported that Trump donated $12,500 to Schneiderman’s attorney-general campaign that year.

The foundation is barred by law from making political contributions.

“This is nothing more than another left-wing hit job”. Trump and Bondi have denied any connection between the donation and Trump University. “The other candidate’s foundation took money other people gave to his charity and then bought a six-foot tall painting of himself”.

There’s been much scrutiny of the Clinton Foundation after reports indicated donors may have been given special treatment from the government while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state.

The Trump campaign has called the report inaccurate. They also have pushed for new investigations of whether Clinton lied under oath to Congress and of how and why some emails that were under a preservation order came to be deleted.
