“I’m just nearly speechless”, said Kolb, who said he considered Nojay a friend as well as a colleague. The newspaper had reported earlier this year that Nojay was involved behind the scenes in forming a company that sought a major contract part of the modernization program.
This incident was witnessed by a Rochester New York Police Officer who responded to a call for a “check the welfare” of an individual at that location. He voted nay 32.1 percent of the time, the second highest percentage in the Assembly.
“We are incredibly shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Assemblyman Bill Nojay”. He was one of Donald Trump’s earliest supporters in NY politics: He urged the businessman to run for governor in 2013, and remained a staunch cheerleader throughout his presidential campaign. “The Assembly Republican Conference has lost a true friend and today our collective hearts are broken”, said State Senate Minority Leader Brian Kolb.
Republican Party officials say a NY state assemblyman facing a primary challenge next week has killed himself in Rochester. “He will forever be missed”.
“Please join me in prayer for BILL’s family in this time of overwhelming loss”.
Assemblyman Bill Nojay speaks during an Anti-SAFE Act rally at the West Capitol Park on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in Albany, N.Y.
The Rochester native and his wife had three children, according to his official biography. “Bill was dedicated to improving NY and communities he served in the Rochester area”.
According to WHEC, officers were called to the Riverside Cemetery around 9:20 a.m. Friday for reports of shots fired.
“A loss like this transcends politics and government, leaving only hollowness and heartbreak in its wake”.
He was first elected to the chamber in 2012 and also hosted a radio show.
Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, D-The Bronx, said in a statement “I can not express how saddened we are to learn about the passing of Assemblymember Bill Nojay”. Assemblyman Nojay was passionate about our country, the Constitution, and had a tremendous commitment to Upstate New York. “Our thoughts are with the Nojay family and their loved ones during this hard time”. A wealthy dentist in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, recently claimed Nojay and three others got her to invest $1 million in a rice exporting company that never opened.

He quickly became one of the most outspoken members of the state Legislature and frequently criticized Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, and even fellow Republicans.
