Syria truce holding, United States says
The move comes as the ceasefire in the brutal civil war appears to be holding into its second day, with one monitoring group reporting no deaths in the area covered by the US-Russia agreement.

The source said the sealed trucks would come from Turkey and would be opened inside Aleppo by the Syrian Red Crescent, which would distribute the aid.
On Wednesday, both Moscow and Washington spoke positively about the deal, with the Kremlin saying it raised hopes for a peaceful solution to the crisis and Kerry arguing it was a “last chance” to keep Syria together.
Humanitarian aid has not been delivered because Syria hasn’t sent a letter of authorization to the United Nations, he said. Between 250,000 and 275,000 people in east Aleppo have been cut off from assistance since early July, according to the United Nations.
The ceasefire, negotiated by the United States and Russian Federation, appears to be holding in its early stages, although many observers believe its efficacy will only become clearer as Tuesday progresses.
The Russian military, in comments carried by Interfax, said there had been 60 such violations, adding that most were the work of Ahrar al-Sham, a hardline Islamist rebel group which Moscow says has not accepted the ceasefire.
The opposition Free Syrian Army group has said that while it will “co-operate positively” with the ceasefire, it was concerned it would benefit the government.
The AFP news agency reported that residents on both sides of divided city Aleppo passed the night without opposition rocket fire into government-held areas or regime air strikes against rebel districts.
“Twenty truckloads (of humanitarian aid) are ready and they were supposed to deliver them today but unfortunately because of all these arrangements for making sure the security and safety of the humanitarian workers, including drivers, have not been made yet so they are at the border”, Ban said.
Turkey’s foreign minister is accusing the Syrian government of not abiding by a U.S. -Russia brokered cease-fire.
The sources said that the trucks left around noon (0900GMT) Tuesday from the Cilvegozu border gate.
Just hours before the ceasefire started, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad gave a defiant message to the country’s opposition forces, vowing “to retake every piece of land from the terrorists”.
These types of violations are not uncommon, and it’s not necessarily a measure of success in a ceasefire – the world usually hopes that these brief respites in violence can help those in areas like Aleppo get the humanitarian aid they so desperately need.
“We haven’t seen the humanitarian access yet so we’re still continuing to assess this, talking to the Russians”, he said. But a similar truce in February gradually broke down and violence escalated sharply, particularly around Aleppo. A Turkish official said no further trucks were expected to cross the border on Wednesday until the situation became clearer.
Swanson did not want to name any specific parties, but said that he didn’t expect the aid to arrive Wednesday.

United Nations special envoy Staffan de Mistura said that the trucks are ready to move and that the Syrian government was in breach of the agreement brokered by the USA and Russian Federation, which included allowing the vehicles through simply by notifying the government in Damascus.
