IOS 10 May Brick Your Device – Here’s What To Do

Apple started rolling out the iOS 10 update in the United States last night, but excitement soon turned to fear as a number of people have reported the update bricked their phones.

Users who are still experiencing problems while attempting to install iOS 10 can visit the Apple Support page for instructions on how to restore their devices in recovery mode via iTunes. The downside is that the iOS 10 update has been bricking some users devices.

Social media has seen a flurry of reports claiming that updated iPhones are ploughing through power. They said the bug left them unable to use their phones if the software update was completed by downloading it directly onto the phone, rather than through iTunes, Apple’s music playback and management platform. To upgrade go to Settings – General – Software Update on your iPhone or iPad.

Apple apologised for the problem and issued a software update to fix the issue.

Apple recommends users back up their devices with iCloud or by connecting it to a computer before installing the update.

When prompted to “restore” or “update” you should select “restore”.

Apple Inc. started rolling out the iOS 10 update worldwide on 14 September.
