Westwood One’s Kevin Harlan Has Call of the Night on MNF

Anyone on the East Coast who went to sleep by halftime didn’t miss anything.

Rams players called the loss “embarrassing”.

Colorado is playing MI this week in college football, and apparently, MI doesn’t usually issue a depth chart like most teams do. The uncompetitive opener was one of the worst games in Monday Night Football history and a huge disappointment for LA’s newest sports franchise. By signing Fisher to an extension, the Rams are saying they believe in a guy that has shown no ability to lead them anywhere in four seasons. The 20! They’re chasing him. The 49ers were pegged as one of the worst teams in the National Football League heading into the season, so this is an encouraging start. Finding a legitimate starting quarterback that they can build around moving forward.

After watching the Case Keenum-led offense Monday night rack up a total of 185 yards, fans are right to enter Sunday’s tilt versus the Seahawks with skepticism.

“That will change up this week”, Britt said.

Of course, this is only one game and it’s far too soon to decide how Goff is as a pro-level quarterback. The first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, for whom the Rams traded six picks (two first, two second, two third-round) to the Tennessee Titans to acquire, wasn’t suited up as he watched the Rams’ revolutionary three-and-out strategy. “I just want him to feel and sense and absorb the pressures of Week 1”, Fisher said. And the coaches did a great job with preparing us for this week. With Jared Goff inactive and Case Keenum named the starter, Coach Jeff Fisher meant to slowly introduce Goff to the speed of a prime time game and observe the offense from the sidelines. “It’s for no other reason than just to get Sean some experience, but I just let Case finish it”.

The Rams will get a chance to redeem themselves in front of their home fans, but it won’t be easy, as they’ll go up against the division rival Seattle Seahawks this Sunday. Goff brings hope, because he hasn’t actually played yet. The rest of the game was pretty ho-hum from the special team’s standpoint. He went 17-35 with a measly 130 yards passing, 2 interceptions, and 0 touchdowns. He rushed for four more yards than Gabbert. They’re not that good. The ugly high pass that sailed over the head of wide open receiver Jeremy Kerley that would have probably resulted in a 46-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.

Gurley didn’t participate in the Rams’ brief workout Wednesday after carrying the ball 17 times for 47 yards in the opener.

But it also prevented Gurley from developing much of a feel going into the start of the season. The 49ers did this same sort of dominant performance on Monday Night Football’s double header past year.
