Man charged in North Carolina cop’s slaying to be arraigned
A man suspected of gunning down a North Carolina police officer over the weekend is scheduled to be arraigned in Rhode Island sometime Wednesday night.

Rhode Island authorities said Irving Fenner Jr. was arrested around 2:30 a.m.
Fenner’s Facebook page says he lives in Shelby but hails from Providence, Rhode Island. “He was holding his left side”. Police said she aided Fenner while he was wanted on the outstanding warrants.

Hamrick is accused of harboring Fenner, knowing he was wanted, when Officer Brackeen attempted to serve warrants on him early Saturday morning.
Brackeen was first transported to Cleveland Regional Medical Center and then flown to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died. The officer died Monday. Providence, Rhode Island police, as well as a SWAT team, searched a home at 150 Oxford Street on Tuesday night. Police did, however, arrest Fenner’s half-sister, Jolisa Peeler, 27, on a charge of harboring a fugitive.
North Carolina put out the warrant for her arrest, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation contacted Nassau police, which made the arrest, the source said.
Authorities also arrested Deitra Morris, 37, of North Carolina on a charge of accessory after the fact of first-degree murder in connection with the case. Their relationships to Fenner weren’t immediately clear. At the time of the shooting, he was assigned as a K-9 Officer.

Fenner was released from the hospital and taken to state police headquarters, where he was arraigned Wednesday night on charges of murder and being a fugitive from justice.
He is remembered in Shelby, some 45 miles west of Charlotte, for community classes and demonstrations alongside canine partner Ciko, the Shelby Star reported.
O’Donnell said he was glad his officers could deliver that news to Brackeen’s colleagues.
‘He was one of these guys who everybody admired and respected, ‘ the mayor continued. They don’t know how long the process will take.
‘We’re all going to miss him’.
