While his Clarence House office has declined to comment on the incident, Charles is believed to have been driving an Audi A4 Allroad Estate when the accident happened.
A spokesman for Clarence House confirmed that an incident occurred, although royal sources said it was low-key.
Prince Charles walked away uninjured from behind the wheel, but his auto, an Audi, was damaged.
But while the 67-year-old royal reportedly escaped the crash totally unharmed, the condition of the deer is not known.
It is understood Charles was on a break from official royal duties at the time.
The sources said: ‘Red Deer are a hazard on the roads up here and most drivers have had a brush with them at some point. “He’ll have got a hell of a fright”.
On Saturday, Her Maj played chauffeur to Kate Middleton and her parents, along with Prince William in Balmoral.

Princess Anne is also now at the estate after she was forced to cancel her royal engagements to recover from a chest infection.
