De Bruyne enjoying his role in Guardiola’s Manchester City

The result means the Red Devils winning start to the season is now over, while City top the table with four straight victories.

And the Manchester City striker admitted it was a special day after his 36th-minute strike turned out be the victor in a scintillating 172nd derby.

First-half goals from Kevin de Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho had Pep Guardiola’s side in control at Old Trafford but Bravo’s failure to claim a deep free-kick from Wayne Rooney presented Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a chance to reduce the arrears.

The star of the show was undoubtedly De Bruyne, but with a supporting cast of David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Iheanacho, it was a joy to watch, thanks in part to the tempo they played at.

“Let’s say our team didn’t play well in the first-half and their responsibilities are my responsibilities”.

While Guardiola praised his goalkeeper for “one of the best performances I’ve ever seen”, Bravo said he was “happy with my first week, with the work I have done”, even though the 33-year-old Chile worldwide gifted Zlatan Ibrahimovic a goal after colliding with defender John Stones and dropping a high ball late in the first half.

Prior to the derby, Guardiola said he would be happy to share a post-match drink with his opposite number.

Guardiola was speaking ahead of City’s Champions League Group C opener against Borussia Monchengladbach at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Bravo is a world-class goalkeeper, make no mistake.

On Herrera, Mourinho added: “Ander Herrera came on in the second-half and was the one that allowed us to recover the ball fast to press higher, to bring the team higher to build a new wave of attack and put another long ball into the last line”. To come and win against a Jose Mourinho team is tough. We started the game with some players really below the normal level, in terms of their concentration, of their mental ability to play a game of this speed because you need to be sharp in the way you think, the way you play.

Manchester United take on Feyenoord in the Europa League this Thursday. Everything around the game: the derby, the big game, the focus, the attention. I have said many times I have a lot of respect for him. “I know it will be impossible to do it for 90 minutes in every game because of the quality of the opposition but, I’m sorry, I’m not going to negotiate that”.
