Projected path of Tropical Storm Julia.

Julia is located about 60 miles (95 km) south-southeast of Charleston, South Carolina with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph), the Miami-based weather forecaster said.
The tropical depression that was once Tropical Storm Julia is expected to meander off the SC coast and dissipate by early next week.
Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Ian is moving north in the central Atlantic but still is no threat to land. In fact, it’s been 29 years since any tropical storm has formed over USA land anywhere – Beryl, which formed over southeastern Louisiana in 1988.
Georgia Power officials say about 100 homes and businesses are without power Wednesday morning. But the worst wind and rainfall had subsided by daybreak Wednesday as the storm passed to the northwest. “A slow and erratic motion is expected over the next couple of days”, the NHC said, saying some strengthening is possible over the next two days.
Many areas along the SC coast saw more than 2 inches of rain during the storm on Wednesday, but nowhere near the 6 inches to 8 inches that had earlier been forecast.
A tropical storm warning is in effect Wednesday morning for Fernandina Beach to the Altamaha Sound in Georgia.
The shallow cyclone is expected to continue drifting eastward today and then meander in weak steering currents until dissipation.

Schools and government offices remained open as the storm, which formed late Tuesday afternoon off Florida’s Atlantic coast, skirted across Jacksonville and moved north, bringing rain and tropical winds to much of southern Georgia. Its maximum sustained winds were near 40 miles per hour (64 kph).
