Schneiderman recently filed a lawsuit against Trump University, and in an interview with CNN, said the Manhattan billionaire’s charitable foundation is also under examination. Both Bondi and Trump have denied any wrongdoing, saying the donation did not lead to any favors. “A number of criminal statutes would appear to be implicated by this course of conduct”.

Neither company was still offering seminars by the time Bondi took office in 2011, though dissatisfied former customers were still seeking promised refunds.

Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks said the letter “is a totally ridiculous and false mischaracterization that blatantly disregards the facts”.

Trump has called the report “inaccurate”.

“He gave, and got what he wanted”, the ad ends. “When I call, they kiss my ass”.

Eric Schneiderman told CNN on Tuesday night that his staff was “looking into the Trump Foundation and making sure it’s complying with the laws that govern charities in NY”.

‘My interest in this issue really is in my capacity as regulator of nonprofits in NY state, ‘ Schneiderman said.

Schneiderman’s office has been corresponding with the foundation about concerns since June.

NY state’s attorney general revealed Tuesday that his office has been investigating Donald Trump’s charity to make sure it has been following state law governing nonprofits.

“This is nothing more than a leftwing hitjob created to distract from Crooked Hillary Clinton’s disastrous week”, the statement added.

Trump’s Bondi issue has given Democrats the opportunity to turn the tables on the Republicans over allegations of impropriety after spending weeks defending attacks on The Clinton Foundation.

Trump paid a $2,500 fine to the IRS for making the charity contribution to the political entity.

The Post, citing tax records from the Trump Foundation, noted Trump has not made a donation to his own charity since 2008.

The Post also found other irregularities, including that Trump spent $20,000 of money that had been set aside for charitable purposes to purchase a six-foot (1.8-meter) painting of himself.

The announcement of yet another lawsuit against a Trump company from Schneiderman is likely to draw criticism from Republicans and others who see the move as overt political targeting from New York’s top law enforcement official. Bondi personally solicited money from Trump, the Associated Press reported.
