Mauricio Pochettino credits Mark Hughes with “changing the culture” at Stoke

“Tottenham found this fixture quite easy previous year, winning 4-0 at the Bet365 Stadium, and though I don’t see it being as easy this time, Spurs need to start a winning run in order to stay with the pack at the top of the Premier League”.

A Stoke win or a draw is a saver at 21/10; however, the fact that three of these sides’ last four encounters at the Britannia have topped the 2.5 goals mark makes backing a scored draw appeal 15/4.

It means Pochettino, who favoured a similar 11 from week-to-week during their title challenge last term, expects Son and others on the fringes of the first team to feature more regularly.

Pochettino signed Victor Wanyama, Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko – a trio well-equipped to deal with the robust side of the game – during the transfer window but he insisted they are also skilful footballers.

“We felt very disappointed, then it was Chelsea”.

“I was happy before the last few days [of the window] with the squad we had. It is always hard and the expectation is massive but he is more mature and more experienced and I have no doubt he is going to score before long”.

And the 24-year-old showed exactly what he is capable of by scoring the first two goals in a terrific display from Spurs which saw them move up to fifth place in the Premier League table.

Pochettino added: “We’re very disappointed that he got injury in the national team”.

“Maybe, Mr Moss, who was the fourth official, was a little too keen to emphasise and enforce the new directives, which we have been exposed to on several occasions already this season”.

“It’s always been the plan to sign a new deal and now it’s happened I’m relieved and very happy”. We have the squad to compete.

He went on to say though that it is “one thing to believe and another is to deliver” which his team couldn’t after that which frustrated him.

“When you play a lot of games, you need to keep your level”. We hope to kick on now like we did past year, get some wins and go from there.
