Ford CEO says Trump’s claims are ‘absolutely not’ true
Ford CEO Mark Fields says GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is completely wrong when he says that Ford plans to move its USA operations to Mexico, or even shift future investment outside the country.

If he tried to remove NAFTA, the unprecedented move would likely result in companies taking the USA government to court and higher tariff payments for American consumers, experts have warned.
“If we did put into effect the kind of trade policy that Trump has been talking about, under which USA companies that move production to a place like Mexico and expect to sell that output back here” are hit with high protective tariffs, “that’s going to be a very powerful incentive to move small auto production back here”, Tonelson said.
“They think they’re going to get away with this and they fire all their employees in the United States and.move to Mexico”, said Trump.
When asked if the move of the Focus and C-Max from Michigan Assembly to Mexico would result in any USA job losses, Fields responded, “Absolutely not”.
The news was revealed by chief executive Mark Field during an investor conference in MI and despite the fierce opposition of Republic Presidential candidate Donald Trump. Either way, Trump was put in place by none other than Ford itself, whose spokesperson shut down the GOP candidate’s falsehoods. “And we’ll have nothing but more unemployment in Flint and MI”. They’ll make their cars, they’ll employ thousands and thousands of people not from this country, and they’ll sell the cars right through a very weak border … – United States auto maker Ford warned its shareholders on Wednesday that company profits will decline in 2017 as the company will increase its investments in new technologies. “Now, cars are made in Mexico and you can’t drink the water in Flint”.
It would also appear to be a breach of the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA, which allows the United States, Canada and Mexico to trade products duty-free between themselves.
Fields said the company has a “contingency fund” to finance future investments that fit into Ford’s long-range mobility strategy, but wants to “make sure we are investing wisely” in a field where less than half the prospects offer real value.
Ford will build a plant in Mexico. General Motors, Fiat Chrysler, and Ford – all now operate billion-dollar plants in Mexico. That one model is made at Michigan Assembly. “This is another example of what’s wrong with NAFTA and why the TPP would be a disaster for the citizens of the United States”.
