Jared Fogle will do prison time for child pornography charges

“This is about using wealth, status and secrecy to illegally exploit children”, U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler said.

Wednesday August, 19th, ex-spokesperson for Subway, Jared Fogle, presented himself to a federal judge.

In court documents, Jared will be forced to pay 14 victims $1.4 million in restitution. He will be sentenced by a judge at a later date. The count involving sex with a minor is punishable by up to 30 years. Today, the full extent of Fogle’s crimes have been revealed and they are far more horrifying than anything previously reported in the case. He expects to get well.

In a first court hearing that lasted just 15 minutes, Fogle was advised of his rights and placed on home detention with Global Positioning System monitoring, the Indy Star reports. Others waved signs accusing authorities of going light on Fogle while giving many minorities rougher treatment. Subway swiftly ended their relationship with Fogle after the raid.

Federal agents raided Fogle’s Indiana home in early July, where they seized several computers and DVDs.

The charges against Fogle were that he used Web sites to solicit commercial sex and traveled to engage in sexual acts with minors from 2007 until June 2015. Since that time, Fogle has kept a low profile since then.

It also emerged Fogle travelled to New York City at least twice between 2010 and 2013 seeking sex with minors, and paid for sex acts with a girl he knew to be 17-years-old and another girl younger than 18.

Jared Fogle’s family members say they are “shocked and profoundly disappointed” by the former Subway pitchman’s behavior but grateful that he is accepting responsibility. His ads highlighted a personal story of losing weight on a diet primarily consisting of the company’s sandwiches.

Court documents say that he asked one victim for access to a minor as young as 14 years old.

The documents, obtained by WISH-TV, state that the former head of Fogle’s charitable foundation, Russel Taylor, provided Fogle with images and videos of nude and partially clothed minors in sexually explicit situations.

Jared and Katie have been married for five years and have two children.

The victims did not know they were being secretly filmed by hidden cameras concealed in clock radios, while they changed clothes, bathed or during other activities, in Taylor’s current and former residences, the affidavit states. Some were taken in buildings where Taylor lived.

At a press conference, prosecutors said investigators combed through tens of thousands of emails, text messages and images. He was a freshman at Indiana University at the time. Subway quickly cut ties with Fogle, but the drama is only beginning.
