One of the biggest surprises at Apple’s event yesterday actually had nothing to do with the iPhone 7.

During Apple’s annual event held in San Francisco, ‘Super Mario Bros.’ creator Shigeru took stage to introduce “Super Mario Run”. It will initially be released exclusively on Apple’s App Store in December for iPhone and iPad, with it following at a later date on Android.

“We have created Super Mario Run to be flawless for playing on your iPhone”, said Miyamoto.

Super Mario Run will be out this holiday season. Also coming are Super Mario stickers with the new iOS, iOS 10. Miyamoto said the game can easily be played with one hand, allowing gameplay while simultaneously riding the subway, say, or eating a hamburger.

Tim Cook announced how everybody’s beloved character Mario is finally making his way to the App Store.

He also spoke about the game itself, saying that its development team is made up from original Super Mario developers, including Takashi Tezuka, who leads the development.

The press release states that the game will be available for trial for free with the option of an in-app purchase to unlock all the features. Using one finger on the touch screen you can make Mario jump, and the longer you tap the longer he jumps. And the third lets you “create your own Mushroom Kingdom” using the coins you’ve snatched in the prior two modes. The second, dubbed “Toad Rally”, amounts to a challenge mode in which you compete against other players’ best times and “styles”.
