Trump says ‘something was up’ with Flint pastor

“Then I’m going to back onto Flint, okay”. “They’ll make their cars, they’ll employ thousands and thousands of people, not from this country … and we’ll have nothing but more unemployment in Flint”. Rather than describing his plans about how he could breathe new life into the city, Trump’s speech veered toward his thoughts on Mexico.

As [Trump] continued on to talk about the economy and China, he turned to attacking his opponent, Hillary Clinton. Everything she touched didn’t work out. According to multiple reports from reporters in the room, the audience said no such thing.

Fox’s Todd Starnes: “Something Doesn’t Pass The Smell Test.” . It was awesome to see Reverend Faith Green Timmons reduce the confident and strong-willed Trump from his attack mode down to humble in a matter of seconds after uttering just a few words to the revved up GOP candidate. I’ll tell you what really made me feel good, the audience was saying ‘let him speak, let him speak.

Prior to the stop at the church, the GOP nominee spent part of his Wednesday touring the Flint water plant.

When Timmons interrupted Trump at Bethel United Methodist Church on Wednesday, he responded, “Oh, oh, OK. OK”.

“Okay, that’s good. Then I’m going to go back to Flint”, Trump said, pivoting back to the water crisis.

Trump heeded her advice in the moment.

But something doesn’t pass the smell test.

“Had he stuck to what his camp claimed he came to do”, she wrote, “we would not have had a problem!”

But Trump was interrupted by questions from the small audience that seemed to throw him off. The Fox and Friends hosts wondered if the whole situation was an elaborate trap, but that may be stretching it a bit. It was unclear what she said after leaving the stage.

All told, Trump’s speech in Flint lasted for six minutes and his departure from the church was accompanied by the calls of hecklers.

Leaked emails from former Secretary of State Colin Powell showed him strongly criticising Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, labelling him a “national disgrace and an worldwide pariah”. What he will see is how we are braving a man-made catastrophe [contaminated drinking water]. And so some have wondered whether or not it was a set-up ambush.

Williams defended Trump’s visit, arguing that “Flint, Michigan can never get enough attention to the crisis that they’re facing”. So I’m not sure they wrote that the best way they could have, but in terms of Donald Trump being out there, we know it’s half of the objective, right. And they want to see change. “So she had that in mind, there’s no question”, Trump said. I figured something was up.

“No, it doesn’t bother me”, Trump replied. We sort of smiled together backstage.

The Republican spoke on Fox and Friends on Thursday morning and stated, “She was so nervous, she was shaking”.

“Some people in those communities aren’t planning on voting for me and that’s ok”, he said.
