PlayStation 4 Pro positioned toward 4K video streaming
Today, it announced another set of capabilities coming with the update, revealing it is available to download today. The update also includes the addition of high-dynamic range (HDR) for all PS4 variants, in addition to upcoming features for the PS4 Pro. HDR and Deep Color Output option can be enabled in Sound and Screen settings. This is a bit late to the party compared to the Xbox app for Windows 10 and the Xbox One dashboard update from a long time ago that allowed you to see what your friends were up to with live updates and friend feeds showing what games they’ve been playing, what achievements they’ve acquired and what groups they’ve joined.

And for those who are planning to pick up the PS4 Pro, the update 4.0 has brought along with it a method that allows easy transfer of data. Share Play will also support 1080p resolution options for the PS4 Pro. For YouTube, you can toggle between 30 and 60fps.
One of the things in the update that completely took me by surprise is the new Quick Menu feature for the background music.
One of the biggest issues plaguing the PlayStation version of Spotify stopping it from being as good as it could be was the fact that whilst you could listen to music whilst playing games, if you wanted to change the track or artist you had to leave the game.
A lot of these features are already present on the Xbox One (save for the hardware level native HDR output) and it’s kind of amusing seeing Sony playing catch-up as they attempt to roll out these features ahead of the launch of the PS4 Pro, which they seem to be hoping to help curb the momentum that Microsoft has managed to build up following the release of the Xbox One S.
