In a letter released by the campaign, Clinton’s longtime physician, Lisa Bardack, who visited with Clinton at her home on Wednesday, said Clinton’s pneumonia diagnosis on September 9 started as a “low grade fever, congestion and fatigue”.

After appearing to collapse outside a 9/11 memorial event on Sunday, the 68-year-old Clinton has remained at home recovering from what her doctor called “a mild non-contagious bacterial pneumonia”.

Mrs Clinton – who has been recuperating at her suburban NY home – was treated with an antibiotic called Levaquin, which she was prescribed for 10 days.

Clinton was diagnosed pneumonia two days before she fainted on Sunday but her campaign had kept it quiet until the video was put online.

Clinton plans to return to the campaign trail on Thursday after several days resting at her suburban NY home.

Other health records released will show that Clinton’s cholesterol and blood pressure are within normal ranges for someone of her age.

The conflicting reports brought a storm of attacks on the campaign from Republicans and Democrats alike, who demanded more clarity on Clinton’s health status.

Doctor Lisa Bardack says Clinton came to see her almost two weeks ago and had developed a “low-grade fever, congestion, and fatigue” which Clinton initially passed off as allergies.

Numerous online claims have been unfounded, but Clinton’s early departure from a September 11 memorial and video of her stumbling with help into a van prompted her campaign to reveal the diagnosis days earlier. Clinton reported having “significant improvement in her symptoms” since this procedure. Clinton spent the first part of this week recuperating at her home in Chappaqua, New York, while her husband, former President Bill Clinton, filled in for her at campaign events. The complication led Mrs Clinton to spend a few days in hospital and take a month off from her job at the State Department. Clinton is scheduled to return to the campaign trail Thursday after a three-day absence. On Wednesday, he handed over a one-page summary of that exam, conducted by his longtime physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein. Trump and Clinton have not allowed an outside verification of their doctors’ claims.
