And while Ford is shifting production of all small cars to Mexico, it will continue to make many auto models at USA plants, including the iconic Mustang.

Fields refused to comment on Trump’s threat of a 35 percent tariff on American cars coming in from Mexico.
“It’s really unfortunate when politics get in the way of the facts”, Fields said.
Trump called the move a disgrace and added, “It’s disgraceful that our politicians allow them to get away with it”.
“You know, Poppy, it is really unfortunate when politics get in the way and the facts are: Ford’s investment in the USA and commitment to American jobs has never been stronger”, said Mark Fields, who took over the Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker in July 2014.
When CNN asked whether Ford would be cutting any U.S.jobs as a result of this decision, Fields said, “Absolutely not”.
Fields decision to appear on CNN came after Trump appeared earlier today on Fox News and said if elected he will impose a 35% tax on automotive imports from Mexico. And you know what’s going to happen?
“What we’ll be doing is we’ll be replacing those products with two very exciting new products”.
Ford Motor Co. dismissed Donald Trump’s claim Thursday that it will fire all of its employees in the United States, and vowed to remain in the USA “forever”.
Since 2011, Ford has invested $12 billion in USA plants and created 28,000 U.S.jobs.
Today, Fields reiterated the automaker’s commitment to the UAW to keep that plant running.
She also added that in the past five years, Ford has invested $12 billion in US plants, creating close to 28,000 American jobs. The new Ford plant is expected to cost $1.6 billion to build. That one model is made at Michigan Assembly.
The paper also noted that Mexico has become a “Mecca” for vehicle makers and the country’s auto production is now larger than Canada’s.

In response to the threat, Fields said that Ford will work with any administration but may be persuaded to stay in the USA if the government simplifies tax codes and provides a “level playing field when it comes to trade agreements”.
