Some held flags, balloons or handwritten signs as the hearse carrying Officer Brackeen ended its journey. He was caught later at another location.

All three are facing charges related to harboring a fugitive.

Also arrested were Casey Fenner, of NY, and Deitra Morris, of Shelby, each on a felony charge of accessory after the fact of murder.

Officer Brackeen, 38, was shot while looking for a wanted man over the weekend and died Monday morning at Carolinas Medical Center, the Shelby police chief said. The Shelby Police Department obtained a felony warrant for the suspect for first-degree murder.

Sources told WBTV that Hamrick knew Fenner was wanted while she was harboring him.

Since the fatal shooting on Saturday, six additional people have been arrested.

The scene remained active as of 10:45 Tuesday night.

North Carolina put out the warrant for her arrest, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation contacted Nassau police, which made the arrest, the source said. They’re accused of providing aid to Fenner in the days after the killing, according to police.
