Jets receiver Brandon Marshall hurts left knee against Bills

On Thursday Night Football, the New York Jets faced the Buffalo Bills in an important battle of winless AFC East rivals at New Era Stadium in Orchard Park, NY. Ryan was justified: Both Gilmore and Darby ranked in the top 15 in Pro Football Focus’ grading of cornerbacks last season, and both were within the top 11 of passes defensed among NFL defensive players.

That game sparked a fear in Jets Nation that perhaps the 31-year-old Revis was on the decline.

Opponents already have enough trouble defending Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, which means Enunwa will see loosened coverage nearly every game and has an opportunity to blossom into a big-time contributor player this season. We now have a two-game sample size from the 30-year-old Forte that suggests otherwise, as he followed a strong performance in Week 1 against Cincinnati with 100 yards rushing and three TDs on the ground.

The Bills got within a touchdown on Mike Gillislee’s 18-yard scoring pass from Taylor with 1:17 left in the game. The Jets had to recover a late onside kick and then drain the clock to basically lock up the victory, and even that final sequence summed up the night. The Bills hit one long pass, but that was about it. Before that game, much was made about Ryan’s success against Tom Brady.

That’s a 71-yard touchdown to Greg Salas, for those keeping score at home.

After the touchdown, the Jets put together another nice drive, with Fitzpatrick leading them on a nine-play, 75-yard drive that ended with another Folk field goal, this one from 29 yards to cut the Bills’ lead to 7-6. The Bills gave up 493 yards to the Jets on Thursday night, making Ryan Fitzpatrick look like a modern day Dan Marino with his repeated vertical strikes. On New York’s next drive, Jalin Marshall fumbled a pass, which was picked up by Nickell Robey-Coleman and brought back for another touchdown.

The Jets had the ball for 39:12 and rolled up 493 yards of offense.

Brandon Marshall overcame a first-half knee injury to go for 101 receiving yards on six catches.

Marshall was able to walk off the field under his own power and tried to jog on the sideline before gingerly walking to the locker room for evaluation.

Jets left guard James Carpenter was also down on the very same play. Jets rookie OLB Jordan Jenkins (calf) did not play.
