Trump, Clinton continue clash over national security

The event was supposedly created to explore the candidates’ potential in the role of commander-in-chief, and Lauer apparently felt compelled to demonstrate his hard-news chops by badgering Democrat Hillary Clinton about her personal email server while allowing Republican Donald J. Trump not only to lie about his support for the Iraq war, but to make key assertions, left unchallenged, that legitimately raise questions about his allegiance to his own country and its warfighters. She was scheduled to attend a rally in North Carolina and then speak at a dinner in Washington. Clinton has spent $132 million on ads, NBC News reported this week, more than four times Trump’s almost $29 million.

Hillary Clinton called on Thursday (Sept 8) for the United States to track down and kill Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, as it did Osama bin Laden, insisting her Republican rival Donald Trump has no plan to defeat the militants.

“Our campaign readily admits that running against a candidate as controversial as Donald Trump means it is harder to be heard on what you aspire for the country’s future, and it is incumbent on us to work harder”, Palmieri said in a statement.

“I think voters really saw that difference”, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said on ABC’s “Good Morning America”, accusing Trump of insulting USA generals and showering praise on Putin.

“That kind of principle makes sense when you’re dealing with a relatively normal political environment, in which most of the candidates stick to an unspoken agreement not to lie or simply make things up, or make outrageous statements that have no bearing on reality”, notes Fortune.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton confronted their key weaknesses in a televised national security forum. A New York Times/CBS News poll released on Thursday showed Clinton had the support of 46 percent of likely voters nationwide, with 44 percent backing Trump.

The editorial concluded Clinton is a “known quantity” who is the candidate likely to keep the nation safe.

“Every time she talks about the subject, it’s different”, Trump said. The growth rate past year was about 2 percent.

“I think both candidates, both campaigns quite frankly have quite a lot to be disappointed about last night”, Rogan said. “He said he doesn’t care if other countries get them, doesn’t know why they haven’t been used already”. She promised a more policy-driven approach from Trump in the race’s final stretch. She had gone to NBC News’ military issues town hall in NY better prepared than Trump and armed with warnings from top GOP national security players that a Trump presidency would destabilize America’s national defense. “Trump passed on an opportunity to change course and stop the appalling attacks on veterans and military families, and confirmed that he is risky for our country”.

Clinton making this broad promise, which she stood by Thursday.

The New York real estate mogul’s campaign swiftly shot back, with Trump spokesman Jason Miller calling Clinton’s remarks “the desperate attacks of a flailing campaign sinking in the polls”. Last week, she discussed her religious faith in Kansas City, Missouri.

Thursday’s spontaneous tarmac news conference followed a night when adhering to the campaign’s carefully mapped playbook cost Clinton.

He noted that Clinton traveled extensively as secretary of state and worked long hours.

LAUER: Did you learn new things in that briefing? Challenged, she didn’t immediately have the back-up material available, enabling Trump to sail past the moment. The letter detailed her pneumonia diagnosis and declared her fit for the presidency.
