900 stolen iPhones recovered, two held
The iPhone 5S was at the center of a major robbery in Delhi recently when two people were arrested for allegedly hijacking a truck carrying 1000 units of the handset worth Rs 2.25 crore. According to the Delhi Police, the accused persons are identified as Mehtab Alam (24) and Arman (22), both being residents of Mahipalpur Delhi.

However, the police have nabbed the robbers within 48 hours of the incident and recovered all the iPhones. The Canter truck, however, was traced only on one route.
The two, along with their accomplices, held the truck driver captive before robbing the mobile phones near Rajokri flyover, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Ishwar Singh told reporters. Joined by two others, they drove towards the ridge area in Rangpur Pahadi. He, however, ignored the polythene thinking it might be trash. The man took to the driver’s seat and pushed Singh to the passenger seat.
When he stopped to wash his hands, two men armed with knives accosted him and forced him inside the truck. It is then that another man entered. “He heard one of them say that they were taking the truck to a cemetery”, a senior police officer said. The CCTV footages of all the three routes were scanned and the truck with the consignment was spotted in the CCTV footage on the route to Sector-E, Pocket-2, Vasant Kunj.
Later, Malkhan Singh, who used to provide drivers to the company told the police that two of his drivers, Bhola and Pradeep, had left the job two weeks ago, the officer said.

During questioning, Mehtab and Arman confessed to the crime and revealed the names of three more accomplices- Bhola, Rahul and Jitender. Raids are on to arrest them.
