Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed suggestions Tottenham could struggle with the transition to Wembley when they host Monaco in the Champions League tonight.

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli lamented his side’s lack of cutting edge during their 2-1 defeat to Monaco last night at Wembley Stadium.

As for Dier, he has European football to look forward to as he will be making his Champions League debut with Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday against French heavyweights Monaco.

Pochettino, whose side’s tenacity and energy saw them challenge for the Premier League last season before coming third, was deflated afterwards, and a little mystified.

I definitely hope we’ll learn from a night like this. “We believe in the way we play but we need to adapt our game”.

“Not our best night but incredible support awesome to see 85k spurs fans in one place”, he tweeted. “We fancy ourselves against anyone”.

Spurs now are in the situation where traveling to Moscow and getting a result against the Russian champions in their next match on September 27 would go a long way towards their chances of progressing out of the group.

Spurs face Sunderland next at White Hart Lane on Sunday and Alli expects them to bounce back strongly from their Champions League disappointment. “But we know that it’s a group with very good teams, with four well-balanced teams who are also going to try and qualify”. We designed two pitches (at the training ground), one with the same dimensions as Wembley. Lemar was introduced to great success as he smashed in the second on the half hour mark and as the club wait to hear on Dirar’s condition Jardim does not regret the circumstances behind his match winner’s early introduction. Tottenham have made things much harder on themselves by dropping their home opener.

New boy Moussa Sissoko was just revelling at playing in the competition, the reason the Frenchman snubbed Everton for Spurs in a club record equalling £30million move from Newcastle. We have a fantastic squad full of young, exciting players. He’s a very good manager, very good man and he had a very successful year.
