Twitter abuzz as live-video test of Thursday Night Football nears

Twitter, which recently debuted distinct emojis for all 32 National Football League teams, will show advertisements throughout the game, just like a normal TV broadcast.

The social media company is positioning itself to appear on televisions as well as mobile devices. This app allows you to stream your Twitter feed on your TV or display so you can be updated with what’s going on in the world.

Subscribers to the NFL Network can also watch on their smartphones, tablets and computers.

Twitter is launching a new free app for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Microsoft’s Xbox One, enabling users to stream live video via their TV sets. If you don’t have time to hop in front of a TV to catch tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets, you now have a new option.

Twitter for Amazon Fire TV Stick and Amazon Fire TV are now available in the United Kingdom and the US. Some of the more interesting matchups in the lineup include the Carolina Panthers hosting the New Orleans Saints on November 11 and the Dallas Cowboy, which will probably rack up an “L” against the hosting Minnesota Vikings on December 1. Twitter has also struck a deal with the Pac-12.

The apps, which are free, will have all the live-streaming video available on Twitter.

When Twitter debuts its livestream of ‘Thursday Night Football, ‘ the only difference will be the video. Instead, the company is aiming to become the next live video broadcaster that you tune into.

If you have an Apple TV or Fire TV, you can get the app that will show Twitter’s live streaming of updates and videos. “We did not take the highest bidder on the table”, Brian Rolapp, the NFL’s executive vice president of media, said in April.

In July, Noto laid out key competitive advantages that separate Twitter from others when it comes to hosting a live-streaming experience.
