Apple iPhone 7 sets sales records, carriers say
Social media users contrived a clever hashtag, and Apple’s stock plummeted two points the hours following the iPhone 7 reveal.

To the dismay of many iPhone users, Apple confirmed last week what had been rumored for months – that the newest version of the phone would lose the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.
Neither Verizon nor AT&T, the two largest wireless carriers in the USA, had released figures for iPhone 7 pre-orders as of this morning.
The newspaper actually snuck the new iPhone rumor right into its review for the current iPhone 7.
Sprint said pre-orders were up almost four times, compared to previous year.
“While the iPhone 7 update is more revolutionary than evolutionary, we believe investors could consider these strong early pre-order indications as being reflective of the impact of Apple’s significant iPhone installed base expansion over the past few years”, Stifel analyst Aaron Rakers said in a note.
“In years past, we’ve announced how many new iPhones had been sold as of the first weekend following launch”, the statement noted.
He added that the matte black color has been the most pre-ordered color. The carrier does not say whether that is a new record for the iPhone. New features being introduced with the devices include water and dust resistance, redesigned cameras, a power upgrade with the addition of the A10 Fusion chip and “the best battery life ever in an iPhone”.
The new iPhone 7 and larger iPhone 7 Plus were unveiled last week, alongside a new waterproof Apple Watch, at a press event in San Francisco. Both phones have also ditched the headphone jack.

Here’s to hoping this case will hit stores in time for the iPhone 7’s official release.
