Shahid Afridi opens up about T20I’s retirement plan
Flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Thursday hinted at a possible agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board which could see him make a graceful exit from all global cricket.

Reports had suggested earlier that PCB, on Afridi’s request, was considering including him for the West Indies series to make it a farewell series for him and provide him with the opportunity to retire with the series. I would like the board and the players to work together to set a good example in this respect. “Every player wants to go out on a high and I am no different”, said Afridi, as quoted by Indian Express.
Afridi, who has already retired from Tests and One-Day Internationals had continued to play Twenty20 Internationals and led Pakistan in the World T20 earlier this year.
He said that he had discussed his future with chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq who had given him a plan to think about. Amidst all this, there have been hints that Afridi might retire after playing the Twenty20 worldwide series against West Indies which comprises of two matches.
“Players must exit respectfully since the ones who serve the country with distinction deserve honour”.
Pakistani cricket superstar Shahid Afridi has stayed mum on retirement rumours but has hinted that he will speak with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on making a graceful exit from the world stage.
Afridi also said that he firmly believed that the PCB was the head of the family and needed to have better communication with the players.
Despite facing the strong backlash however, Afridi, whose individual performance both with bat and ball has been continuously waning in recent years, made a highly disturbing statement post-World T20 that he wanted to continue playing for Pakistan.

He also urged the board to communicate in advance with the senior players so that they can ‘retire gracefully and with dignity.’ The first T20I against West Indies will be played on September 23 in Dubai.
