Trump overweight, but doctor cites “excellent” overall health

With his daughter by his side, Trump also commented on controversial statements he has made toward women. “Do we have a moral responsibility, do you believe, to help that person?”

Donald Trump talked about his medical history on “The Dr. Oz Show” and said of campaigning, “In its own way, it’s a pretty healthy act”.

When Dr. Oz tried to steer the conversation to Trump’s stress levels and temperament, Trump went off on a tangent talking about the “dishonest” media. “My wife is a big fan of your show”, Trump said.

In another instance of going negative-which this time prompted a rueful grin and a raised eyebrow from the good doctor-Trump was talking about his paltry exercise regimen and how the rigors of campaigning are depriving him of his favorite recreational pastime. “I feel as good today as I did when I was 30”.

“Should I do it? I don’t care. Should I do it?”

During the show, Trump gave Oz a one-page summary of a recent exam conducted by Dr. Harold N. Bornstein.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill-a Clinton supporter who famously smacked Oz during June 2014 congressional for shilling for bogus weight-loss products-was not far off the mark Thursday when she said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe: “Talk about two snake oil salesman!…” “Well, I have no problem with doing it”. PSA is used to measure risk of prostate cancer. His testosterone level (at 441, well above the low end of normal) is no longer that of a 35-year-old man, but was characterized as “actually good” by a momentarily flummoxed Oz.

Oz did circle back later to Trump’s weight, which the candidate’s doctor says is 236 pounds.

Trump told Dr. Oz that he’s never needed that much sleep and he thinks that it’s because he loves what he does.

“It’s tough because of the way I live”.

His weight and height give him a body mass index of 29.5, according to United States measurements, which is within the “overweight” range but close to the “obese” mark at 30.0.

The document featured on the Dr Oz program was not the actual medical report itself – though Trump did refer to to it as “the report” – but rather a letter from Dr Bornstein summarising the report’s contents. Trump also had a normal echocardiogram and chest X-ray, although it was not clear why these tests were performed. He was last in the hospital (to have his appendix removed) in the late 1950s, at the age of 10 or 11.

“That was a one-night deal”, he said. She’s since taken a few days off from campaigning in order to rest up and recover from the illness.

That admission came only after she stumbled publicly while attending a 9/11 memorial in NY.

“I didn’t think it was necessary”, Trump responded.

“The question is often asked: should you show it?” “It’s all very private stuff”, he said.

In his last note about Trump’s health in December, 2015, Bornstein declared “unequivocally” that Trump would be the “healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency”.

“I just don’t think you can do the work if you’re not healthy; I don’t think you can represent the country properly if you’re not a healthy person”.
