The star reportedly died after being rushed to hospital on Tuesday where doctors reportedly discovered that she had been suffering from pneumonia, according to her husband Gene Piotrowsky. McGuire, age 60, underwent treatment that caused an “adverse reaction” and ending up experiencing not one, but two, cardiac arrests after the treatment. McGuire, who played the character known as “Hatchet-Face” in the John Waters film “Cry-Baby”, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at a Naples, Florida hospital from complications of pneumonia.

Turning her back on Hollywood, McGuire went on to become a lawyer in the 90s.

McGuire and husband Piotrowsky relocated to Naples, Fla. following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 which leveled their Biloxi home. “Since the hurricane, Kim became an accomplished author with her dear husband Gene by her side and publishing books of his own”. “RIP Kim”, wrote on Twitter. “Kim “hatchet face” McGuire my best friend, and the love of my life past away this afternoon”, Piotrowsky tweeted Wednesday. Shortly after the tragedy, they relocated to MS and then eventually to Naples, Fla. “I love you so much”. “Everyone who came in contact with Kim couldn’t help but smile”. She studied law prior to acting, but when she was cast in Cry-Baby she just had to see where the role would lead.

Kim’s husband shared his final words after she passed on September 14.
