Yasiel Puig learned that no good deed goes unpunished on Monday night when his attempt to give a Dodgers fan a souvenir baseball went awry.

Everything has been going great for Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig since he was recalled from the minor leagues on September 2.

Alyssa Gerharter made the courageous decision to return to Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night to cheer on the visiting Dodgers. “It was so fast that I don’t think it’s anybody’s fault for not catching it”. I saw it coming at me and registered it was coming at me, and I felt it hit me.

Gerharter was taken to a hospital after being ushered to a first-aid room inside the stadium, according to the Daily News’ report. It wasn’t so much painful as it was shock. So I felt it hit me and I could immediately feel with my tongue there’s a hole. Unfortunately, it missed her hands and hit her mouth, leaving her with one fewer tooth. The choice was a wise one, because she ended up getting to meet Puig. “Everybody was going after it”.

That ball headed straight for Gerharter – who attended the game with a group of “30 or 40” New York-based Dodgers fans – and smashed right into her face. So everybody was trying to catch it with their bare hands.

Gerharter made an emergency visit to the dentist on Tuesday, where the tooth was re-inserted.

Gerharter returned to Yankee Stadium for Wednesday’s game, and Puig posed with her after the Dodgers defeated the Yankees 2-0.
