Shooter Dies After Injuring 2 at Texas School
Alpine High is a four-year school with about 300 students, majority Latino. It is also holding a training for staff on responding to trauma and will hold a parent and community forum Sunday night.

Some of the high school’s students were seen comforting each other after they were evacuated to a nearby church.
Dodson says investigators are looking for the caller and he could face federal charges.
According to the Alpine Independent School District, there are about 280 students who attend Alpine High School in the small Texas town of almost 6,000 residents, with about 1,000 students in the entire school district.
Pupils, two weeks into their new term after summer holiday, described their harrowing account of the incident, which caused significant panic in the school.
Another student died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the school..
Big Bend Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Ruth Hucke said the hospital treated two people from the incident. Her injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening.
Mr Dodson said that the teenage attacker had moved to the small town of Alpine only six months before the shooting.

Dodson says the officer’s injuries aren’t life-threatening. Authorities said the last time the campus was cleared it took authorities almost an entire day to secure the campus. Further threats spread to an Alpine hospital and a motel in Marathon, Texas. No other details were released.
Alpine Police Chief Russell Scown said first responders didn’t initially realize the dead 14-year-old was the shooter.
Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson said that the injured student ran outside the school after they had been shot.
Initial reports indicated a law enforcement officer was also injured, but it’s not clear how.

Alpine resident and former Congressman Pete Gallego issued a statement saying, “Alpine has had some rough days, but this has been one of the roughest”. Statistically, the people behind mass shootings are overwhelmingly male.

The 2016 Miss Bluebonnet is safe during an active shooter threat at Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus this morning. Dodson didn’t identify her or provide a motive but said her family is cooperating. The district – comprising only one elementary, middle and high school – has about 1,000 students, according to its website.
