Fatal crash involving state trooper closes Del. 1

State Police say the person in the passenger auto has been pronounced dead at the scene.

It happened around 6 p.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes at Exit 98.

Police say the female driver was going northbound in the southbound lanes.

A 77-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a Delaware State Trooper, who was injured, on Route 1 in Dover.

The 22-year-old male trooper was properly restrained and was airlifted by Delaware State Police Aviation to Christiana Medical Center where he is now admitted with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation. The trooper was airlifted from the crash scene to a hospital for treatment of injuries and is expected to survive.

Route 1 southbound has been closed at exit 104.
