Samsung’s recall of the Galaxy Note 7 continues to have a major impact on the company, as well as the smartphone market.

A small manufacturing flaw in the Galaxy Note 7 battery may be the cause of a giant headache for Samsung.

With this OTA update, owners of the Galaxy Note 7 will be prevented from fully charging their devices.
It is not yet clear whether the software rollout will occur on the same day in global territories like Europe and the US.
It’s unclear if or when Samsung will also push out updates in other countries where the Note 7 went on sale, including the United States and China.
Samsung is the world’s largest smartphone maker, and analysts said the recall may leave a larger impact on its brand than earlier estimated. More specifically, the company’s quick fix is to charge the device’s battery only up to 60 percent.
Forcing users to keep their Galaxy Note 7 limited to just 60% sounds like an extreme measure to take, especially since a number of users might not be aware of the restriction.
“It is a measure to put consumer safety first but we apologize for causing inconvenience”, Samsung Electronics said. The company is mulling to offer cash token of about $25 or cash equivalent for customers who are replacing the phone with new one instead of collecting refund.

All Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones will be allowed in hand bags and when kept switched off until the disembarkation. “Samsung is continuing to work with the (Consumer Product Safety Commission) and our carrier partners to develop and evaluate solutions that are best for US Note7 owners”, said Wimberly.
