Kashmir: Rajnath briefs PM, hardline stance against separatists likely
Rajnath said the decision of some of the Parliament members to meet pro-freedom Kashmiri leaders was their own.

Sources said Rajnath too would stay at the hotel.
Talking to reporters after the meeting Ram Madhav said, the meeting deliberated on the Kashmir situation and that future course of action will be decided after the all party meeting to be held today.
The Congress will be represented by Lok Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Rajya Sabha veteran Ambika Soni. “There can be no compromise on issue of national sovereignty”, the resolution, read out by Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh, said.
CPI-M’s Sitaram Yechury, Sharad Yadav of JD-U, Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav of RJD, AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi and D Raja of CPI had gone to meet Hurriyat leaders.
The latest wave of unrest that has convulsed Kashmir since the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani on July 8, has claimed 73 lives so far.
“Referring to Hurriyat Conference (HC) leaders” yesterday’s refusal to meet the All-Party-Delegation (APD), which is on a two-day visit to ease the volatile situation in Kashmir, Mr Singh said this was neither “Kashmriyat” nor “Insaniyat”(Humanity). He apprised the delegation about the ground situation in the state and reiterated its stand that PDP will be a bridge between Indo-Pak dialogue, dialogue between the Centre and separatists and the Centre and Kashmiris. “They were people from political parties, civil society, university teachers, fruit growers, students and public intellectuals”.
“On the other hand, there should be unconditional political dialogue with all stakeholders so that normalcy is immediately achieved”, said Yechury.
The delegation’s efforts to reach out to separatists in Srinagar on the first day of its visit drew a blank.
“If someone goes to talk and they (separatists) don’t talk, then they clearly don’t believe in insaniyat or Kashmiriyat”, Singh said, adding that some members of the all-party delegation went to meet Hurriyat leaders and that the government neither approved nor disapproved of the same.
Without spelling any formal ban on controversial pellet shotguns, which not only inflicted injuries on eyes of protesters but also proved fatal for them, Mr. Singh said, “Around 1000 of PAVA shells have arrived in Srinagar on Sunday”.
In the report, security agencies including NSG have expressed concern that there is general “support” to extremism and terrorism from certain sections of the society including in J&K and this needs to be addressed.

Though Singh is insisting that the “doors are open” for dialogue, sources said the Centre also wants a message to go across that the separatists are holding up peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
