Samsung’s Recall Update Notice: “Samsung has announced a voluntary recall and exchange program on certain Galaxy Note7 devices in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)”.
“Consumers should immediately stop using and power down the recalled Galaxy Note 7 devices purchased before September 15, 2016”, the Commission said. Galaxy Note7 owners can also contact Samsung toll-free at (844) 365-6197 anytime or go online at www.samsung.com to replace their phone or arrange a refund, according to the CPSC.
During a press conference, Chairman Elliot Kaye said consumers should “take advantage of this recall right away” because the phone represents such a “serious fire hazard”.
Due to CPSC’s recall, there will be restrictions on the import, sale, and distribution of recalled phones inside the United States, in accordance with its federal law.
The agency and Samsung had announced last week that a recall was planned following at least 92 incidents where the phone’s lithium-ion batteries overheated, leading to 26 reports of burn injuries and 55 incidents of damage to property.
Once confirmed that you have bought the defective Galaxy Note 7, kindly you defer any usage of your device, turn it off and hand it over for exchange through the U.S. Note 7 Exchange Program.
The recall pertains to any Note 7 units sold before September 15, 2016.
Impacted customers can find more detail over at the Samsung website.
Thus far, the company has sold 2.5 million of the devices worldwide since launching them in August 2015.
The formal recall involves Note7 smartphones sold in the USA before 15 September 2016, amounting to some one million devices sold through retail and at telecom carrier stores.

Consumers have until September 21 to exchange the phone. Hopefully, current Note 7 owners hoping to exchange their device will be able to do so without issue next week. Though officially Samsung has not yet publicized the date of recall, yet no possibilities are there about Samsung starting the replacement before 21st of this month.
