Auto racer Robby Gordon says his family is in shock and grieving the loss of his father and stepmother, who were found dead inside their Southern California home.

Police in Orange received a 911 call from a neighbor at 5 p.m. Wednesday that reported there were two bodies inside the Gordons’ residence, Lopez said.
It was at around 5pm on Wednesday police say they found the bodies inside their luxury home in Orange, 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
Lt. Fred Lopez of the Orange Police Department apparently told the OC Registerthe incident is considered to be a possible murder-suicide, or double suicide, but that there were also “several [other] possibilities” as to why Gordon Sr. and his wife were killed.
Robby Gordon has been participating in a series of off-road races, the Speed Energy Formula Off-Road, which he founded in 2013.
Known as “Baba Bob” Gordon, his father competed in off-road racing.
Robby Gordon said his father instilled in him a passion for motorsports and competition.
“I feel very sad”, she said.

Neighbor Greg Saunders said everyone in the area knew the family. He also owned a feed business that supplied a racetrack, residents said. “The guy was so down to earth. He has his truck and he delivers personally”, Saunders said.
“Robby mentioned his dad gave me my first ride and that he was always so proud of me, was a big fan and bragged about me”, Johnson said Thursday at the NASCAR Chase Media Day in Chicago.
Police continue their investigation into the deaths.
“The truth will come out, what went down here”, he said.
As news of the death of the NASCAR driver’s family began to spread, the NASCAR community began sending their condolences to the Gordon family.
Famed racer Dale Earnhardt, Jr., wished the Gordon family his prayers saying, “Hope they find strength and support”, he said.
“Heartbreaking news this morning”. He previously raced on numerous racing circuits, from NASCAR to IndyCar to Champ Car and IROC. He won three Sprint Cup races in a career that spanned parts of 19 seasons.
Cecil has known Robert Gordon and his son for more than 20 years and raced with the elder Gordon. His best finish was fourth in 1999, losing when he ran out of fuel in the closing laps.
Robby Gordon’s off-road racing team will be in Orange County this weekend.

The elder Gordon also had three daughters, one of whom, Beccy, had just had a baby boy with her husband, 2014 Indianapolis 500 victor Ryan Hunter-Reay. His wife, Sharon, was the stepmother of the NASCAR driver.
