Kentucky lands a commitment from four-star 2016 forward

Killeya-Jones had a strong summer playing in the Under Armour circuit for Team Felton on a squad that also included one of the top point guards in the class of 2017, Jalek Felton.

John Calipari picked up his second commitment for 2016 when four-star forward Sacha Killeya-Jones gave his pledge to Kentucky Wednesday morning.

Killeya-Jones committed to Virginia on New Year’s Day and then after his stock started to rise in the spring, re-opened his recruitment back in June.

Killeya-Jones joins New Zealand big man Tai Wynyard in Kentucky’s 2016 class. He should fit very well at the four alongside Wynyard and 2015 recruit Isaac Humphries. He’s originally from Chapel Hill North Carolina.

“I know going to play for Coach Cal at Kentucky means I will be playing against great players in practice, that’s what I was looking for, because it will help me develop as a player and prepare me for the games”.

The 6-foot-11 power forward has the right attitude heading into his senior year of high school but also has a ton of talent.

Killeya-Jones is Calipari’s first recruit in the class of 2016, but only because Jamal Murray re-classified to the class of 2015.

Killeya-Jones told ESPN that the key factor in his decision was head coach John Calipari.

“Killeya-Jones is big at 6’10”, but 247Sports lists him at only 207 pounds, which suggests that he must grow into his body before becoming a truly dominant player at the collegiate level.
