PS4 software update 4.00 is out tomorrow, here’s what’s new
Quick Menu Music – The new update introduces Quick Menu, which lets a user access the menu without having to leave the game.

On Twitter, Xbox head Phil Spencer was asked for his opinion on Sony’s PS4 Pro reveal after which Spencer outed that he believes that Sony’s did “a nice job”. This enables you to transfer content between PS4‘s (and PS4 Pro) via an ethernet cable attached to both of them via LAN.
Of interest to most is the addition of High Dynamic Range (HDR) functionality to all Playstation 4 consoles, which came as somewhat of a surprise announcement last week with many expecting the advanced display functionality to be a PS4 Pro exclusive.
The idea is if you have a HDR-compatible telly and a console that supports HDR, you’ll get visuals that are more realistic, strikingly vivid and truer to the way the human eye sees the real world. The Quick Menu overlays on top of the game and it is customizable so you can design it to your liking. But seeing “that Spotify isn’t available here in South Africa, this feature is a bit pointless”.
The What’s New and content info sections has also been refreshed by Sony with the 4.0 update, resulting to a different manner of presenting information.
The UI changes were done so that the quick menu screen will no longer cover up games, videos and apps, and occupy only a portion of the TV screen. A representative from Sony recently informed Polygon that “some existing titles will be patched for 4K/HDR support at the PS4 Pro launch timing” which takes place on November 10th. You can even quickly pick out the songs you want to listen to through the quick-select option from the custom playlists.
Sony added in the Quick Menu an enhanced Music section.
On top of that, the new firmware adds easy ways to transfer data between PlayStation 4 systems – so if you do decide to upgrade to a PlayStation 4 Pro, you’ll be able to transfer your content across using an Ethernet cable. That update, which is part of Patch 4.0, will be arriving tomorrow, Sony has announced.

The update has been in beta and alpha for a number of weeks now, but it seems like Playstation is finally ready to release it.
