Jets bounce back with 37-31 win over Buffalo Bills

A loss would’ve dropped them to 0-2 and cleared a path to 1-5 or 0-6. Matt Forte had three rushing touchdowns – the biggest moments when it was clear how much the Bills missed Dareus – and Fitzpatrick looked like a Pro Bowler … it was all bad news for the Bills on Thursday night.

“Take last week’s defensive performance and this week’s offensive performance and the Bills have one complete game”, Sabuda said.

While the Bills have moved on from Roman, Schefter also reported that they’ve chosen to hire assistant head coach/running backs coach Anthony Lynn as the new offensive coordinator.

Marshall recovered the Bills’ onside kick attempt and Forte ran the clock down to 10 seconds before the Bills got the ball back. His emergence gives the Jets a third option in the passing game that they’ve been searching for. “I know I have to step up and make those plays, so I’ll do that”.

Having watched his offense experience multiple problems in the first two weeks, Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Friday morning. “The Jets were a much better team than we were, especially their offense against our defense”. They gave up nearly 500 yards from scrimmage tonight, which is nearly never going to win you football games. The Bills’ offense was pathetic in their season-opening loss to the Ravens, managing only 160 total yards, their lowest output since 2006. The first shakeup in Western New York came down on Friday afternoon in the form of a canning.

He went 18 of 30 for 298 yards and three touchdowns. Against the Jets, the Bills had 307 yards offense, with more than half that coming on two plays: Taylor’s 84-yard touchdown pass to Marquise Goodwin and a 74-yard TD pass to Greg Salas.

The Jets scored on each of their first four possessions to build a 20-7 lead.

NY should continue to have one of the best defenses in the league, and that will be a big part of the its overall success this year. The only positive takeaway was the turnover forced by stripping Jalin Marshall and Nickell Robey-Coleman was able to pick it up and run it in for six, but still this defense has a long way to go otherwise there will be a lot of jobs lost in Buffalo after this season.

The Jets won, but Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis struggled for the second straight game.

Whatever that identity is, it would behoove the Bills for it to include more passes to star wide receiver Sammy Watkins.

The Jets could be without two other veteran starters in Week 3, when they travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs. The Jets did allow Bills WR Brandon Tate to return a kickoff 45 yards in the third quarter, but that drive ended with Williams’ interception. Running back LeSean McCoy gained only 59 yards. But Marshall’s just had after he was dragged to the turf, facemask first, by Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore in the second quarter Thursday night.

After a few minutes on the turf, Marshall was helped to his feet and limped to the sideline where he was examined.
