South Korea’s Preemptive Decapitation Strike Is a Bad Idea
North Korea deliberately carried out the nuclear test on its foundation day to show it to its people that the country has flourished as a strong military nation under the leadership of Kim Jong-un.

On the morning of September 9, North Korea executed its fifth nuclear test and announced that the country has a weapon light and small enough to be placed atop a ballistic missile.
North Korea’s weapons enhancements, including the testing of various types of missiles this year at an unprecedented rate, have alarmed neighbours South Korea and Japan. A U.S. news channel was filming cargo going back and forth on the North Korea-China border without any inspection.
“On the other hand, North Korea is a big headache but regime change is not an option”, the source added.
If Clinton intends to insist on the “complete, verifiable and irreversible” rollback of Pyongyang’s program, the stated USA goal in the Six-Party Talks, there will be no serious new denuclearization discussion with North Korea.
The host of the show launches into a tirade declaring: “Scared by the South Koreans” series of demonstrations against the deployment of the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system, Park Geun-hye (South Korea’s president) is rampaging like a mad dog and purging those who are anti-American cells.
The most recent round of United Nations sanctions – which US ambassador Samantha Power called the “toughest.in more than two decades” – was passed by the Security Council in March, following a North Korean nuclear test in January.
The Council on Foreign Relations also said in an independent task force report that the USA should convince China to exert pressure on the North to return to the dialogue table, while proposing new negotiations with Pyongyang. Appearing at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Venezuela on Thursday, North Korea’s foreign minister Ri Yong-ho said Pyongyang is ready to launch (quote) “counter-attacks” if the United States keeps provoking the regime. And so far, these punitive measures have yet to achieve their aim – forcing North Korea to denuclearize, or at least return to the negotiating table. “I think that you couldn’t necessarily rule that possibility out”, says Snyder.
Chinese officials also say that the West over-estimates its influence with North Korea.
And when it comes to asking the world to send money to help North Korea, “the timing could hardly be worse”, as The Washington Post puts it.

That effort, to the extent that it is backed up with the necessary resources and strategic commitment, would proceed even if there were no North Korean threat. “If a window is open to curb North Korea’s nuclear ambitions, it may not stay open for long”, Wit wrote in the New York Times. “Well now they’re on their way to an arsenal of perhaps dozens”, Kroenig said. But as the worldwide community expands the scope of secondary sanctions, they will likely proscribe any foreign bank from doing business with any North Korean counterpart, Eurasia said.
