ITT Tech has been ordered to pay $152 million within 30 days to cover student refunds and liabilities.
“New Mexico is not immune to these closures with ITT Tech’s Albuquerque campus shuttering along with the rest of the national chain”. The sanction was the result of ITT’s accreditor saying the school was not in compliance, and was unlikely to become compliant, with requirements in areas like financial stability, management, admission standards and job placement. The majority of the company’s revenue came from federal aid. Their website states “VA does not have the legal authority to restore any GI Bill benefits you have used to attend ITT, even if you are not finished with the classes this term”.
At SPC, a handful of students in technical programs are being considered for transfer.
ECC’s fall semester began August 24, but college officials said admissions staff at all three ECC campuses can direct former ITT students through the process of enrolling and transferring their ITT credits, as well as financial aid. “We have the academic offerings, for nontraditional as well as traditional students, locations and personal support to get these students back on track to complete their degrees”.
