Matt Lauer faces critics over forum

When asked at the forum about how he would stop the spread of global terrorism, “Trump’s answer was simply, ‘take the oil, ‘” Clinton added.

But that’s not working out so easily for the Republican presidential nominee.

Forum moderator and NBC’s “Today” show host Matt Lauer was lambasted for not calling out Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during an hour-long event at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in NY that military blog “Task & Purpose” pulled “Six WTF Moments” from.

The Times suggested that Lauer was not up to his task and said moderators of the upcoming presidential debates will need to be “fully prepared to challenge the candidates, so voters can have a clear picture on how they will lead”. It’s a message that is being sent by a candidate that assumed she’d have the media in her pocket, to future debate moderators.

Trump responded by accusing his rival of trying to change the subject.

Indeed, Clinton struggled during the forum to fend off questions about her use of a private email server during her time as secretary.

Trump and Clinton supporters went on the offensive on social media Wednesday night and Thursday morning, defending their candidates’ performances during the forum.

Clinton was referring to an interview that Trump gave on Larry King’s show “PoliticKING With Larry King” on Ora TV, an online platform.

Noah also criticized Lauer for not pushing back on Clinton and especially Trump, who Noah said got “away with making up lies”, including about how the GOP nominee was against the war in Iraq from the beginning (Trump said he was against the war in an Esquire article published more than a year after the war had started).

Trump did little to counter criticism which says that he lacks policy proposals, including ones on tackling Islamic State group.

HILLARY CLINTON: You know and I know classified material is designated.

Wednesday’s forum served as a preview of sorts for Clinton and Trump’s highly anticipated debates. But he then broke with Trump in warning, “Putin is an aggressor that does not share our interests”. “Maybe the Democrats are putting that out”.

“What is Aleppo?” Johnson asked. Granted, Clinton’s email issue touches on national security.

“If he wasn’t good with Hillary Clinton, he was bad when handling Donald Trump”, the host said. “An absolutely rock steadiness” mixed with “strength to be able to make the hard decisions”. Ironically, some conservative sites had complained earlier that Lauer would be too soft on Hillary because he was listed as a participant in some Clinton Foundation event. She also flushed out several national security priorities if she is elected, including trying to take out the leader of the Islamic State and vowing to defeat the extremist group without putting USA troops on the ground in Iraq or Syria.

Clinton, who was secretary of state during Obama’s first term, said Trump’s comments on the briefing were “totally inappropriate and undisciplined”. But much of the rest of what I’ve seen is thinly disguised anti-Trumpism.
