Tom Cruise to close the deal for Mission Impossible 6

Apparently, a pay dispute halted pre-production on “Mission: Impossible 6” earlier this summer, but now the blockbuster spy franchise is back on track, with Tom Cruise expected to close the deal, shortly.

Mission: Impossible 6 is of course the fifth sequel to 1996’s first Impossible Mission Force film, which starred Cruise and was directed by Brian De Palma. Find out the details after the jump. THR had previously reported that they spoke with a source who claimed “one of the contentious points is Cruise’s backend profit participation, with the actor looking to match or exceed what he is getting paid by Universal for starring in The Mummy”.

With Cruise (seemingly) a go for Mission: Impossible 6, there are more pieces that will need to come together for when production starts in spring 2017.

The film follows 2015’s well-received Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation, which ended up bagging just under $700 million at the worldwide box office.

Mission Impossible fans will surely be relieved by this news. However, another report claims Paramount wanted Cruise and the producers at Bad Robot and Skydance to lower their rates.

Paramount has hired a handful of people in London to start designing the visual effects. In addition, Rebecca Ferguson will also reprise her role from that most recent instalment.

McQuarrie has hinted that the new film will have a different style than Rogue Nation.

The Hollywood actor is poised to reprise the role of International Monetary Fund agent Ethan Hunt for a sixth installment of the money-spinning movie franchise, which is based on the TV series of the same name.
